Jose Stewart

Jose Stewart

Growing up in Darwin with an Indigenous Australian mother and Scottish immigrant father, Jose developed a unique perspective on cultural identity and preservation from an early age. His maternal grandmother, a traditional knowledge keeper, instilled in him a deep appreciation for food as cultural heritage, teaching him that recipes carry stories and history. After witnessing how tourism was simultaneously threatening and potentially preserving traditions in his hometown, he committed to documenting culinary practices and cultural traditions around the world, using his occupational therapy background to understand how daily practices shape cultural identity.
